In this project, I worked closely with the client’s Product team to co-create a solution that aligned with their vision and goals. The collaboration was deeply hands-on, with the team actively involved in reviewing and shaping nearly every detail of the project. Their input was invaluable for ensuring alignment with both business objectives and the needs of prospective customers, and it required me to navigate a highly iterative and detail-oriented process.
This project was designed as "dark-mode-first," prioritizing a dark palette to cater to the preferences of analysts, who often spend long hours working with data-intensive tools. Analysts typically favor dark mode because it reduces eye strain in low-light environments and minimizes the glare caused by bright backgrounds, allowing for more comfortable prolonged focus.
Additionally, dark mode enhances the contrast of charts, graphs, and data points, making it easier to distinguish subtle variations in data—a crucial feature for detailed analysis. By adopting a dark-mode-first approach, we ensured the interface not only aligned with user preferences but also optimized the visual clarity and usability of the platform.
To enhance the usability and clarity of the dashboard, I implemented a feature sectorization system for the widgets, visually separating three key elements: company filters, microfilters, and visualization options.
Visualization options were tailored specifically for each widget, allowing users to customize how data was displayed within individual tools. Microfilters provided a powerful capability to bring in data outside the scope of the main dashboard filters, enabling users to perform targeted, ad-hoc analyses. Finally, company filters allowed users to compare a specific company’s metrics against broader industry benchmarks, offering a clear juxtaposition of individual versus collective performance.
This structured organization ensured that users could intuitively navigate the dashboard, quickly accessing the precise tools and filters needed for their analysis
Friendly dates are a powerful feature designed to streamline workflows for analysts, who rely on standardized time frames in 95% of their use cases. By providing intuitive, pre-configured options analysts can quickly access the data views they need without manually inputting or recalculating date ranges. These variations cater to different perspectives within the same standard period, offering flexibility while maintaining consistency.
